Thanks to our amazing and benevolent webhost, mbuna, I believe we have a solution to the video issues. We don't know WHY the .avi files haven't been working, but using this klcodec pack, we were able to view the files without any problems. So my suggestion is to download and install the codec, then try the videos again. Thanks for all your patience everyone! Let's all cross our fingers and hope this is the last of the video problems, mmkay?

It seems we're having issues with video files. The Jimmy Kimmel & SP VHS intro I uploaded the other night are not working right now. I'll try to fix that in about ... 8 or 9 hours. In the meantime, here's some news:

The NY Times' Bruce Weber reviews Eliza Jane Schneider's one-woman show "Freedom of Speech" which is part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

In full-season DVD news, DVDFile.com reports that Warner Brothers will NOT be putting out the Season 3 set of South Park episodes on DVD. Instead, Paramount will be handling this. AnimatedBliss.com offers this explanation for the switch:
1. Comedy Central (the company that pays for South Park to get made) was previously owned by both AOL-Time Warner (50%) and Viacom (50%).

2. Viacom recently picked up the remaining 50% of ownership to Comedy Central and now owns the network outright... along with home video rights to South Park.

3. Instead of sticking with Warner Brothers as the video/DVD distributor for the series, Viacom has given that task to Paramount, a company they own.
We can't say whether or not this is accurate, but it seems reasonable. I hope this means they'll actually put commentary on the discs this time. Ohpleaseohplease!

Now I'm just spoiling you guys. The New York Times has an interesting article about the way the afterlife has been portrayed in different films. Here's what they have to say about Matt & Trey's vision:
In a Class by Itself

SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT (1999, Trey Parker and Matt Stone) Heaven: Big-breasted angels. Hell: The vast majority of earth's former denizens. Fire, volcanos, torture. The exquisitely sensitive Satan, in bed with a brutish but libidinous Saddam Hussein who says, along with many unprintable things, "I love when you get all Biblical, Satan." Final judgement: Comic heaven.
The Guardian Unlimited takes a look at gay animals and their role in movies and television. Naturally, Stan's dog Sparky is discussed:
the first series of South Park covered this ground in an episode entitled Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride, in which Stan announced that his Sparky was "the toughest dog on the mountain". But Sparky (played wordlessly by George Clooney) had other ideas. Before long, he was sporting a pink bandana and making moves on the butch Sylvester. Things came to a head when the ever-eloquent Cartman squealed, "That dog's a gay homosexual!" Stan was ridiculed and Sparky fled to Big Gay Al's Big Gay Animal Sanctuary for refuge, alongside disco-dancing rabbits and a "gaggle of gay gooses".
It's actually a very interesting little article, so you should check it out.

*gasp* Can it be? Two updates in ONE day? Well, I don't have any news about Matt and/or Trey, but I have a couple of video goodies for you! The beef came back from vacation and got us Matt & Trey's last appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live from last month, as well as the first intro from the South Park Volume 7 VHS (the one I had originally was corrupted). Have fun!

Denver fans! You can still catch a screening of Trey's early piece "American History" tonight at Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation. Check out DenverPost.com for more information.

I found this on the Santa Cruz (CA) Sentinal's website. Apparently, Orgazmo is screening in the area.
(NC-17) In this sci-fi comedy from the creators of ‘South Park,’ naive Morman Joe Young picks the wrong house to spread the Word and is soon recruited to perform in a porn movie about a sex superhero who fights crime with the Orgazmorator. Not reviewed.

How sad ... a whole month in between updates! This is just a note to let you know that we are, in fact, alive around here. This long South Park hiatus is killing us. I did manage to dig up some news mentions, though, so here you go!

CityPages.com mentions Cannibal! in an article about Troma's Lloyd Kaufman:
Only Kaufman had the nerve to pick up South Park creator Trey Parker's early film Cannibal! The Musical (August 23, 27, and 28), which marks the historic intersection of Troma and the late experimental-film titan Stan Brakhage (who has a cameo).
STLToday.com makes the common mistake of crediting Matt & Trey (not by name, mind you) with the production of the animated bit in Bowling for Columbine:
(The "South Park" guys provide a hilarious cartoon to illustrate the dark side of American history.)
Animation World Network has a book review up for Allan Neuwirth's Makin' Toons. "South Park" is covered in the book, but the review doesn't say to what extent. It's a pretty interesting article, though.

Just two more tidbits: In case you didn't realize it, last week was "South Park"s sixth anniversary. Comedy Central first aired "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" on August 13, 1997. Secondly, Bowling For Columbine came out on video and DVD yesterday. Matt Stone makes an appearance, so check it out.
