Girly's Internet connection is still kind of flaky, but she managed to get her thoughs on the latest episode out before the latest disconnect:
Girly says: Dude, that was pretty fucked up right there.

Zuzu says: Rock on Lemmiwinks. Now, I've been accused of taking political correctness to the extreme - and I own up to that. It's ironic to me that this episode dealt with the issue, since I've been assessing my own feelings and actions on the tolerance front. I thought the message was very well said. Being tolerant doesn't mean you like something or agree with it - it just means you tolerate it!
I even managed to find a South Park mention or two this morning. This article has the disturbing headline "Dumb Down: It's smart to be dumb". I guess I would prefer something about "You have to be smart to pull off being dumb well" or uh, something.

Strangely enough, the same guy seems to be saying the opposite in "Dumb Down: Is popular culture getting dumber?" Or maybe I'm just too tired to appreciate the subtle nuances?

Here is an EXCELLENT review of the South Park 1st Season DVD set.

Finally, some public access station in Rhode Island aired a 10-minute cartoon and got into trouble for it. I just like the headline: A naughty Rudolph aired Sunday on Cox. Island of Misfit Sex Toys, eh? Sounds a lot like the Island of Misfit Mascots to me!

So this was in my inbox when I got home from work: I thought you might get a kick out of this slightly larger picture of Trey in a crushed purple velvet Captain Ectasy costume and Matt as a ....priest?? Thanks nobby! And I'm not sure what they are...I'll ask breayle if she has any clue. You can own a real, honest-to-goodness copy of this picture! OMG!!1!!11 CLIKC ON THE PICTERU!!1 Uh, sorry...I'm not well.

The only other thing of interest I can offer you is this, and it's not much.

Just dropping a quick line to relay Comedy Central's official press release for this week's episode! Click on the image for the full 1.63MB (!) version.
THE MAGIC OF MIDDLE EARTH AND PORNOGRAPHY COME TO "SOUTH PARK" IN AN ALL-NEW EPISODE -- Infused with the spirit of Gandalf and Frodo, the boys set out to return their copy of the "The Lord of the Rings" movie to their local video store. Meanwhile, the kids parents are infused with a different kind of spirit as the hottest porno ever made is making its way around South Park. "The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers," premieres Wednesday, November 13 at 10:00 p.m. only on COMEDY CENTRAL.

November 7, 2002 8:00pm CST

Check it out - Les Claypool is coming out of the shadow of South Park and Winona’s Big Brown Beaver.

NHL goalie with Cartman on his mask finally wins a game after 19 losses. Well, of course he has 19 losses - Cartman would make a shitty goalie.

I know why you're really here, though. I finally buckled down and got the Orgazmo sounds up! I hope you think they were worth the wait!

November 7, 2002 7:00am CST

Yay for new episodes! Here's our reviews:

GirlyGirl Says:
I really liked this episode. It made me laugh more than any of the last batch from this season. The Japanese rasberry was my favorite. I really hope they keep the Cartman/Kenny thing for a show or two. I knew they wouldn't really bring him back, but this was way cooler than I thought it would be. Hmmm.... time for a glass of chocolate milk.
Zuzu Says:
I really have to hand it to MNT! They managed to strike a nice balance between totally screwing the annoying Kenny-huggers and entertaining the fans who love the show, not just a character. I thought the Cartman/Kenny thing was very clever, and I'd like to see it referenced in the next few episodes, for consistency's sake, but I don't want it to be so prominent that it takes away from the other storylines.
Next week's episode looks pretty good, too, judging by the commercial - which you can get ri'chere thanks to our buddy beefylogs. (Uh, shoot me an e-mail if that doesn't work - I don't have stupid RealPlayer on my PC yet, so I can't test it out.)

Speaking of video, South Park Studios has your hook up for celebrity ramblings and gushings about the 5th Anniversary party. Thanks Breayle, but where's the video of Trey screeching like a monkey?!

SPS also has the info on the Season One DVD package that Warner Brothers has managed to fuck up. Who the hell puts audio commentary on a separate disk!? Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, you'd think they were TRYING to lose money on this deal. I had heard rumors that they were going to pull something like this, but I didn't say anything because I was hoping it was all a bunch of crap....turns out it is crap, but the rumors were right on.

Okay - I totally swear to god that there will be Orgazmo sounds up tonight or tomorrow.

Click that badboy for a 615k version! Here's what the press release from Comedy Central has to say:
"South Park" is back with six all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, November 6 -- When the boys go to Heaven to find Kenny, the Feds investigate the possibility that Saddam Hussein may be hiding weapons there. Will Kenny return to "South Park"? It's been a full year since fans have seen little Kenny in all his orange parka-clad glory and now the wait may finally be over. "A Ladder to Heaven" premieres Wednesday, November 6 at 10:00 p.m. only on COMEDY CENTRAL.
I believe this is the last new episode of this bunch, with another set starting November 6. Episode 611 is titled "Child Abduction is Not Funny" and SPS.com gives this description: In an effort to protect their children from kidnappers, the parents hire the owner of City Wok to build the Great Wall of South Park.

Credit Big Will (you know, SP Scriptorium)for letting us know about this site with a bit of info on the Orgazmo DVD. Also check out the official site for a great forum and more info.
Someone mentioned to us that we should have a forum for this site, but we kinda already do. I'm just such a slackass that you don't know about it yet. Well, some of you do, but not many, but.. yeah.. Shpadoinkle_Ceri (who many in the MNT web circle already know) set up an EZboard dedicated to the boys, and she's letting us kind of adopt it as the unofficial forum for this site. So go to Fudge, Packer? already!

Oh yeah, and we added a buttload (yes, that's the technical term) more videos, so go check them out and be patient because while some of them are only a handful of bytes, some of them are many megs. And we're able to bring you all this video goodness thanks to our webhost mbuna who is a stud with a big, huge, hard....drive array.

I got news news NEWS! First up - South Park has received it's third Emmy nomination! Check out the Emmy Awards website to see a complete list of nominees. South Park has the shortest list of hangers-on - produceres, writers and what-not. Could this mean something? South Park's first Emmy nomination came in 1998 for "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride", and it's second in 2000 for "Chinpoko Mon." The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is Comedy Central's only other Emmy nominee, with three nominations - one for Stewart himself. He rules!

Here's an interesting view of the nomination:

And in a classic Emmy twist, Comedy Central's "South Park" grabbed a nomination that was at least partially related to Sept. 11. It is up for an animated-series statuette for an episode dubbed "Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants."
I'm not sure why that's "classic" or a "twist", but whatever.

From the lighter side of things, silly Minnesotans and their twisted mnemonic device-like activities have yeilded several drainage ponds named for Simpsons, Happy Days and Star Wars characters. The state hydrologist threatens to start using South Park characters next. Do these ponds have signs in front of them? I'd love to have my picture taken next to Big Gay Al's Big Gay Minnesota Drainage Pond.

Zuzu says: YAY! More Craig! I laughed so hard when the boys started grunting at each other. And who else but Cartman would play "Lambs?" I had to watch this one on the Real One player, so I can't wait until Saturday when I can watch it on TV and really get to see everything. MORE CRAIG! MORE CRAIG! MORE CRAIG! UH unh unh unh!

July 18, 2002 1:30am PDT~

I haven't seen the new episode yet, and I'm blaming it on my job, even though it's really all my fault. Work is interfering with my Matt&Trey time! DAMN THEM! Ah well, I'll put up my review when I see the episode...I'll probably download it today...gotta love IRC. In the meantime, at least one of us has her priorities straight:

Girly says: My review is titled: How I would like to be like Bebe. Just kidding. I really liked this episode. It had references to two of my favorite movies! I thought Timmy's ape sounds were hilarious! Being a girly with ample Ah-tahs I can identify with Bebe's stuggle. However, let's be honest here, we ALL know that big titties give us extra brain power. Now....Put the lotion in the FUCKING basket!!!!

Another one from our bestest buddy breayle at SPS.com: It's Part 2 of Matt & Trey's Most Notorious Episode Intro. This one is HUGE (16.8MB) so please be a patient downloader! It's definately worth the wait - super high-quality, kiddies! Damn, I love it when Matt makes that awful face when they come back from listening to the Terrance & Phillip hate voice-mail. That's Comedy with a capital C.
The Video page has been updated to reflect these newest editions, and will be growing even larger within the next few days. Of course we'll let you know right here when we add stuff! Also, we have NOT forgotten about the Picture Pages - we know how much everyone is looking forward to the photos!

Man, I love cartoons. Here's a pretty good article from Calendar Live that mentions our boys, along with Mike Judge, and one of my favorites, John K of "Ren and Stimpy" fame.

This phenomenon is not exclusive to television, where budgets rarely allow for A-list voice talent or where shows such as "South Park" (whose creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were actors before becoming cartoonists) and "Beavis and Butt-head" originate in their creator's dining rooms, voices and all.
Somehow I don't think budgets had anything to do with these guys voicing their own creations. I'm more inclined to think that they had a pretty good idea of what they wanted the characters to sound like, and they were able to sound like that, so why bother hiring someone else and trying to teach them?

Zuzu had her turn, now gaze in wonder at this review of "Free Hat":

GirlyGirl says: I think this was the best one so far from this batch of the season. I thought they were very clever and not too preachy. (I've felt that the last two were a little heavy handed.) The spoof off of Indiana Jones was just awesome! But, of course, the highlight of the show for me was the "commercial". The "bad ass" aliens, the improved starship, seeing Matt and Trey: priceless. I dig Trey's new do. The shaggy look is very becoming on him.

July 11, 2002 2:15pm CDT~

Thanks to Jim at South Park USA, we are proud to present Matt & Trey's appearance on last night's episode (much sooner than originally expected)! This clip may show up on the site in another format after a couple of days, as well. (I'm playing with new software.) Click here to see the men! (As always, right-click to save.) Has Matt been working out, or what?!

Look for a couple of great screengrabs from tonight's episode coming tomorrow! If you haven't seen the episode, you REALLY must!

Zuzu Says: Wonderful episode! I absolutely love Indiana Jones, so seeing the SP parallel to Raiders of the Lost Ark was sooooo coooool! And that little surprise "commercial" (I don't want to give too much away for those who haven't had a chance to see it yet) was very unexpected! I was freaking out. :)

July 8, 2002 11:47pm PDT~

According to South Park Studios there will be an anniversary special celebrating South Park's fifth birthday.

The Anniversary Special will consist of three episodes from the series uninterrupted for the first time ever on television. It will celebrate five years of "South Park" with favorite episodes, best highlights and an exclusive look at an all-star, celebrity invited packed party celebrating the milestone. Also included will be special footage of the series' creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, hosting the block. Commentary is also provided by celebrities including Danny DeVito, Hugh Hefner, Chris Klein and Jay Leno.
Sounds pretty sweet to me! I've never ordered pay per view before. There's a first time for everything I guess. :)

If you made it here, that means you have a lot more patience than most people. I apologize for the slow loading speed at the moment, butI'm looking into it with our host.

In the meantime, did you know Norman Lear, the creator of such great sitcoms as "All in the Family," "Good Times," and "The Jeffersons," is a South Park fan? Mr. Lear said so in an article at Extra TV. It just makes sense, though - South Park couldn't have made it as a regularly-aired television show without Mr. Lear's trailblazing efforts. Lear, referring to "All in the Family": “A lot of people didn't realize that the show chose to make a horse's ass out of a bigot.” He could just as easily be talking about Garrison, no?

Speaking of people not realizing things, this review from the Nando Times seems to have completely missed the point on the Powerpuff Girls.

This little film is so slovenly done, so primitive in technique, that it can't really be called animation. Much like the episodes of "South Park" and the movie version that followed, "The Powerpuff Girls Movie" is done in the style of child-like drawings that look as if they were cut from colored construction paper and then set in motion. But while "South Park" comes with a certain inside cynicism because it's geared directly to adults, this movie is jaded in a different way. Its cynicism is based on its assumption that kids will sit still for anything, so long as it's loud and always moving.
THE POWERPUFF GIRLS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DRAWN AND ANIMATED LIKE THAT! It's part of their charm! As Buttercup would say, "Yeah, you big dummy!"

July 4, 2002 5:00pm CDT~

Yeah...I just watched last night's episode. I felt like maybe there was just too much going on. Sometimes the subplots/multiple plots work well for Matt & Trey, but I just felt like they were tossing too much at me this time. Of course, it could be one of those episodes that I enjoy more after watching a couple of times - And those often turn out to be my favorites.

~~Zuzu

July 3, 2002 11:34pm PDT~

Well, that episode was......different. They definately seem to be going for shock value this season. As usual, good points were made about society with a heathly dose of humor to wash it down. Overall: good stuff.

July 2, 2002 9:40am CDT~

I can't tell if this review of South Park Season 5,found at Ananova.com, is a good one or not; you be the judge:

As they approached the close of this fifth series, the show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, clearly encountered no difficulties in coming up with even more vile filth. Despite setting the series up, right from the start, as the most depraved and confrontational cartoon ever made, there's still no shortage of ideas here.

In The Entity (aka The Ginger Device), Mr Hand's comment about Enrique Iglesias's gyrating ass gives Mr Garrison an idea for a new form of transportation. Here Comes The Neighbourhood finds Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett plus the likes of Snoop Dog, Bill Cosby and Oprah Winfrey moving to South Park, prompting Mr Garrison to suggest that the locals dress in white sheets to spook the rich folks out.

Kenny Dies sees a truck, which is carrying aborted foetuses for research purposes, toppling over the side of a mountain and a passing Eric Cartman taking possession of its cargo, with a view to selling it for a lot of money. Finally, Butters' Very Own Episode sees Butters follow his father to a porn theatre, to see Fisting Firemen 9, and his mother attempting to drown him.

...

The other trio of hilarious episodes included here are Towelie, Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants and How To Eat With Your Butt.
I just want to know who this "Mr. Hand" is!! :P~

Comedy Central has released teaser images for Episode 608 & 609!

Episode 608 - "Red Hot Catholic Love"

Episode 609 - "Free Hat"

Episode 608 - "Red Hot Catholic Love"
When the Catholic Church scandal negatively impacts church attendance in South Park, Priest Maxi travels to Rome to confront religious leaders about a solution. After intensive counseling about the issue, the boys try to understand why anyone would want to put something up their butts.

Episode 609 - "Free Hat"
Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Tweek take on a cause close to their hearts when they realize that their favorite films are being enhanced, re-released and ruined in the process. Disappointed by the latest versions of such classics as "Star Wars" and "E.T.," their newly-formed club aims to stop certain famous directors from wrecking any more of their original masterpieces.
